This project is purely spec work. I was commissioned to build the website, and while building, I whipped up this awesome little logo. Unfortunately the client did not want to change the brand. This is something that frequently happens in this industry, and I’m quite used to it, but fortunately for me I was able to walk away with something that I was happy enough to include in my book.
It’s never fun, or profitable working on projects that you don’t get paid for, but sometimes we have to make the work that we want in order to feel more fulfilled. Honestly, this was something that I whipped up fairly quickly. As designers and developers we’re always trying to build the best brands possible. Just remember that as designers, we’re passionate about what we do. At times we may come on strong, because we not only believe in your brand, we have the experience and knowledge that have led us to where we are. When we fight for ideas, we’re just trying to push ideas that will enhance your brand to give everyone a better experience.
So in the end, I’m ok when these kinds of things happen. Happy little mistakes like this can’t be all bad.
